2012 E350 bluetec (gas) - auto light and rain sensor
Auto Light and sensor out due to windshield light and sensor kit missing
I can tell they didn't replace light and rain sensor module
these are the connections
I believe some inside lights don't light up due to missing light sensor
Hello all. I purchased my car back in December 2023. I must say it is an amazing car. Whoever had it really took care of it. I did notice that I get an error saying auto light configuration not detected. I realize where the error is coming from and that is from the windshield rain and light sensor module. Can someone tell me what I need to do and what part number I need to make sure I can put this on the windshield because I see that the windshield is a aftermarket windshield so I didn’t have the attachments for this to plug into. Also, I believe the light sensor also is affecting my buttons near the radio and my steering wheel buttons - they don’t light up. They all work, but they just not lit. I do appreciate any help I can get and again the car is amazing. Thank you in advance.

Physically missing sensor...
You've discovered the previous owner got windshield replaced and the company failed to reinstall the now lost sensor.
I can tell you how to fix it but if its missing a used eBay unit will bring your lights back.
While you're at it, buy a scanner for your new car. Around here we like to use "LAUNCH creader MB Elite $150" for its good compatibility.
You will note these sensors are programmed to match windshield material & color - Aftermarket non-OEM windshields may require programming.

Your humidity sensor is still there. Only one more electrical connection (likely for the light/rain sensor) so I would assume your car does not have a camera. Best way to know for sure which part number to search for is to use your VIN and look for the part on the EPC (there are several online sites with free access to the EPC). There should be a plastic bracket glued to the inside of the windshield that supports the sensors and allows for the interior trim cover to clip in.
