MB warranty can be void if installed external parts

I have just installed side steps/running board on my GLC from external vendor. Does that void MB warranty?

There's a high possibility. Incorrect installation can open up areas to rust, etc. Running boards should only be ordered on the car direct from factory for full warranty!

Are you saying that running board from external vendor can cause my car warranty to be void from MB.

Yes. Especially if they can use it as an excuse for a failure mechanism on exterior parts of the car near the boards!

I wouldn’t volunteer that info but it should be obvious to dealer it’s not a factory option based on your VIN.

Anything not related to these running boards is still covered.

Running boards only connected where they bolt on.
If no holes drilled you should be ok for everything still being covered.

To deny any warranty work they have to PROVE these running boards were CAUSE of issue.

Example; assuming car is under mileage and age limits:
If your AC stops working because a hose leaked under hood - they have to repair under warranty.

Now if the guy who installed these boards ruined say a brake line then you are out of pocket.

google .. Magnuss warranty act (I know I am missing a word but google is smart)

We're on the same page here. Some dealers will find any and all excuses to refuse warranty work!

Note that the quality of the running board install should be scrutinized going forward. Make sure the 3rd party did a good job!

Only issues that can be proven directly related to the aftermarket part would be void. While dealers try to screw people, this is a 50 year old consumer protection law…in the US.
