2008 CLC 200 kompressor wing mirror issues

Hey guys first time posting hoping for some help,

I've tried searching around but don't think I can find any threads matching my issue.

My wing mirrors are electric and will fold in everytime the button is pressed. However they refuse to fold out unless the button is pressed a lot of times. It's becoming a pain as I need to fold my mirrors in for the drive way but will sit around waiting for them to fold out when I need to leave.

I've tried pushing them by hand to "reset" them and I've also changed the fuses in the driver side fuse box with no luck.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks

I used to have a similar problem with a mirror not "obeying" every once in a while. Found that a membrane in the button mechanism was sometimes sticky, and stayed "pressed" even when the plastic button was "popped out". As you are saying that the mirrors won't fold out, I'm pretty sure the "fold in" button membrane is stuck in the "pressed" position.

Can't comment on your exact car, but for earlier W203s, this would be the procedure.

1. Remove the driver's side fuse panel (side of dash) and disconnect the headlight/mirror switch assembly. There may be a hidden screw, hidden by the parking brake handle (you have to pull the handle to see it).

2. Pop the cover off with a plastic pry tool or screwdriver. Most of the assembly is held together by clips.

3. Add a drop of silicone grease (be sure whatever you use is rubber friendly) to the corresponding rubber membrane. Squish it around a few times and wipe off the excess.

4. Reassemble.

Let me know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for the idea. I took it apart and the membrane wasn't sticking but gave it a Grease anyway with no luck. Odd thing is that the fold out button will fold the mirrors in as if the buttons are interchangeable depending on where the mirrors are positioned.

Did you check/grease the membranes on the other buttons? The controller can act funny when it thinks there are multiple (and contradictory) buttons pressed.

Yeah all looking as they should and gave it all a good grease. I did take note of the part number but not sure if the problem is in the control panel now...

Bit of a long shot, but if you're absolutely sure the membranes aren't sticking, then I'd check for cold joints on the PCB next.
