Radio plays but screen has Mercedes Logo

Radio plays but screen has Mercedes Logo
My 2005 C 55 radio will play but the screen shows the Mercedes logo. Buttons don't work, but volume works fine.
Any ideas?
Also, if radio is fried, anyone selling one?

It is possible that your head unit is defective. Before you reach that conclusion, I suggest that you remove the fuse for the audio system to see if that makes a difference. Removing the fuse may reset the system and enable it to function properly.
Considering that it is approximately 20-years old, the head unit may have reached the end of its useful life. Do you have the Command system with navigation? If you do, Here’s a link to a replacement.
I replaced my OEM unit with a Kenwood system that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I understand that you may want to maintain the OEM configuration on a C55. However, I have found that I enjoy the features of the updated system.

After pulling out the original Navi and disconnecting it from all harnesses, plug it back in and see if it behaves normally. The older units are finicky and can come back to life after a 100% reboot from the harnesses.
Also, got the radio code? It’s easier to get it from the dealer when it’s still operational in the car. It’ll also make selling it 2nd hand if it comes back to life.
