Front strut mount location

Pulled one of my front struts today, Before I take it apart I wanted to understand how the strut mount is located relative to the strut attachment to the wheel. Is there a feature like a flat on the strut shaft that aligns the mount relative to wheel hub mounting point?

yes the front MacPherson strut has a flat bracket welded to it at the bottom to secure the wheel knuckle to it with 3 bolts.

knuckle fasteners holes

Replace new strut top bushing + bearing re-greased well.
Then your steering control :
and happy driver :

Thank you for your response. I'm embarrassed but this was a totally stupid question. My mount bearing is stiff enough I forgot it was there.

Too add to this is the top mounting bolts (3 on top mount). Getting those lined up is a little more difficult. On mine I jacked up that side steering knuckle which caused those three bolt holes to line up nicely and didnt require using them to try and torque the strut into place.
