I have a 190d from 1988 with a electronic becker europa cassette 730. The guy who owned the car before removed the antenna that sticks out the back of the car and so it doesnt get signal. I put a new antenna in and tried to get the radio to pick up any signal, but the search slider doesnt work and when i use the button so it searches automaticaly, it finds nothing. And if I set an FM transmitter to the same frequency as the radio and play something on it, the radio doesnt pick it up. Does anybody know what could be wrong or has had the same issue?

 

I would suggest that you contact Becker Auto Sound. You can reach them by phone at 201-773-0976 or email them at service@beckerautosound.com. Explain the issue you're having and see what they say. My hunch is that the new antena you installed might not be compatible with your Becker radio.

 

I sent my radio out of my 91 (not a Becker) and they overhauled it and made the cassette part work. They also can convert it ti Blue tooth or sell you a rebuilt one. With a try.

 

Or just buy a new radio unit from Crutchfield -- good prices and free express shipping.
