2019 AMG G63 Question

Hello to All;
I am very happy to be part of the forum. I have been a MB owner sine 2009. Purchased my G63 a few years ago. when purchased it had 24" wheels with P305/35R/24 tires.
I have to make a hard left turn from my alley to the driveway. It started grinding. not rubbing. We removed them and installed the original 22" wheels. When removed, there was a 12MM spacer.
Decided to try the 24" again. Bought some 31MM spacers hoping would stop the noise. That did not work! Could not even get them mounted, hitting the fender. Any suggestions on how the make the tires fit with no rubbing or grinding.?

@MJ50 can you move this to the W463A forum. He won't see much action on it in the G55 section.

@Andyorjill if you can provide some additional information it might help us solve your problem.
  1. Do you know the specs of the 24" wheel you are running? Mainly need the width of the rim and the offset.
  2. Where is the grinding/rubbing happening when you turn into the driveway? Ie, the inner side of the tire hitting the downpipes or frame, or the outer edge of the tire hitting the outer fender?
  3. Is the suspension system on your 2019 G63 completely stock, or has it been lifted or lowered?
I would assume that the previous owner had installed the 12mm spacer due to rubbing on the inside edge of the wheel/tire. So, you will probably need to go up a touch in spacer width to get them to work. As you have found, a 31mm spacer is way too much. I'd suggest looking at the HR Springs website for their Trak+ offerings. They make a 15mm and 20mm spacer for your application. The 20mm spacer would move your tire outward an additional 0.3" from where the 12mm spacers locates it. Would that be sufficient to prevent the rubbing? If so, check to see if there is clearance on the outer edge of the tire so it doesn't hit the outer fender.
