Gm just picked up a 580 w 21's and joined the blow out club. would like to get a space saver spare... what options do we have? apparently the w222 spare doesnt fit... I tried. Calipers are to big. are other models spare compatable? and easier to find?
Do you have the standard run-flats? Took me 4-5 blowouts before I realized I should get rid of them. I switched to a decent regular tire, and then just carried a can of emergency repair goo. Not ideal, but after getting rid of the run-flats, I never had another flat, though I didn’t own it too much longer. I had 19s.

I bought one of these for my BMW I7. They don’t show one available for the W223, but they didn’t show one for my I7 either. I called them and even though they didn’t list one for my car, they had one that was compatible. I have actually had the need to have it mounted once and it saved the day.

But i always like to have a spare even if its in my garage just in case... So far 1 bubbled tire and 1 blowout... anyone know off hand if some other Mercedes space savers are compatable?

I have 21" on my car. I've heard/read that you shouldn't mix sizes, even for a short time. I can't find a 21" version on their site. You can't beat the price though.
Anyone know if that 1 inch difference would be an issue if you had a flat in the middle of nowhere and had to drive a good distance to get it repaired?

To find the correct spare, look for one for your vehicle. They typically list one size of spare wheel and tire that will work regardless of what wheel size you are currently riding on as the important measurent is based on the total diameter, wheel and tire together. Any wheel and tire combination for your vehicle has the same ultimate diameter, and the spare must be for your vehicle not for just for your current wheel size
For instance, I have a modern spare for my 23 E450. Does not matter if i am running 18 inch wheels with 245!45 tires or 19 inch wheels with 245/40 tires, the ultimate diameter is the same, and the same spare works for either set of wheels.

I bought the EZ-Spare...the package deal came with a set of lug nut bolts, a 2 1/2 ton jack and a nice bag to keep the tire and lug nut bolts in and it was just a little shy of $500 after tax and delivery. It sure gives me piece of mind--especially since I dumped the nasty Hankook runflat tires (which ride like Fred Flintstone's cement wheels) for a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS4's, which of course are not run flats. The jack (in a nice bag also) fits perfectly in hidden storage compartment beneath the main trunk floor. The spare does take up a little space though...but I generally don't need a lot of trunk space unless I'm making an airport run--at which time I'll just grab the spare and leave it in the garage for that short trip. It's not heavy at all.
It's unlikely that I would need to get down and dirty to actually change the wheel, but I did add a $9 wheel alignment pin to the lug nut bolts bag so I could actually get the wheel into position.

You know - I go through a set of tires a year in Atlanta due to nails and screws on the roads. This time, screw in back left sidewall, so can't patch. Fortunately, I was in town, so didn't need a spare.

it wont make a bit of difference i got 22 on my s550 i ha knot in my tire so i put my spare on and drove it over 300 miles my spare is a 19 inch today no problem it got me home

The quote I showed was from Discount Tire - and my buddy shops there often. I've always gone to either Butler Tire or Mercedes, but if they can't match, I'll head to Discount.

I have a 2024 S580 with 21" rims and picked up this Mercedes spare tire part # 223-400-00-00 and these shorter Mercedes lug bolts part # 000 900 17 07 (you will need these as the regular lug bolts are too long to seat against the spare rim).
Put it on the front and drove it and then on the back and drove it. Clears the brake calipers just fine and the overall diameter matches up well with the low profile tires.
It came with 40 lb inflation but the tire info says to go up to 60 lb before use.
Odd that this spare tire is listed for other Mercedes class vehicles but not the S class. But AI researching indicated this would work with S class. And its recommended use is limited to 50 miles.
