Hey guys, i'm new here i have a couple of questions regarding the rear camera the one that flips out, not to be mistaken for the 360 one the normal reverse one. Have had some issues where the rear camera flips out shows the screen after a short drive when stopped shift the car in reverse the screen is black after restarting the car cam works fine. Checked all of the fuses, parking sensors work the guidelines appear when reversing. I tried the fav button with the telephone button trick yet no luck. Any insight on this problem.Tomorrow i plan to remove the camera and inspect it, would it need recoding if i just take it out clean the connections and put it back, and if i need to buy a new one what's the actual process of coding it to the car. The car in question is a w213 e class sedan 220d 2020.

I heard this issue happens for certain COMAND software versions not sure if it is that or really a hardware issue, I do not have the problematic software version info though. You could try getting the shop to update to the latest COMAND version. The latest one seems to be 6.80.00.40

for context I typically service all of my vehicles at home for this particular vehicle hence it still under warranty. I was obligated to take it to Mercedes-Benz after reporting the issue to them. The first thing that they told me was we are looking at the modules testing them pulling them out, et cetera, et cetera and I asked how much would that cost? They said in a ballpark of €300-€500. As to any fault codes I scanned the car yet no code appeared after further inspection of the vehicles electronics I came to the conclusion that if the modules didn't work you wouldn't get the guidelines or any sign of the parking system working that means that the spark sensor wouldn't work. The front cameras wouldn't work as for my instance I only have the rear camera not the 360 but no matter none of those systems would work if the modules were faulty. My solution was that I took the whole trunk apart unplugged the camera and I just did it for fun my plug did that plugged it back in after a short test drive the car had no faults after turning on and off the camera couple of times stopping putting in in reverse reversing driving. Everything worked fine and until now everything works fine although I asked for the reference part number from mercedes and they told me that they couldn't order the camera itself they would have to order the complete unit which comes with the button for the trunk, wiring for the license plate lights and the camera itself and that would be also in the ballpark of one €50-€200.

I am still thinking it is a software issue if there are no codes, try a different MB dealership.
There is no other mb dealer in my country. For contex l live in Macedonia the closest mb dealer is in serbia or bulgaria l think. Also checked the software l have the latest one, thanks to my location in near kosovo there l was able to sort 10 used cameras for the low low price of 50 euro.
The thread that you mention is for a different sistem this one is much more refined and simple honestly l think it was a lose connection just in case l sorted the cameras.
