performance question?

I have a 1999 sl500 with 72k on it.I just replaced the stock 17" wheels with 18" staggered. With my esr off I cannot get the tires to spin off the line.Is this normal? I would think that 306 hp should spin the tires a little.I just replaced the plugs, but that did not change anything. Is there something esle I should look into such as rear diff fluid change maybe, or O2 sensors, fuel filter?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the same size also.I just got the car a couple of months ago, and I just wanted to know if this was normal. From a stop, if I punch it with esr off I don't even get a chirp.I know the car's heavy but there are minivans out there that smoke the tires.I will be changing my fuel filter to see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the reply.
