SL/R129: Best and Worst Mods??
1. What modifications have you made?

chipped- i got it chipped. it was great, exept for that my SL was sitting for 3 years and never moved. so when in the hands of a 17 year old and with a preformance chip in, the old sitting parts (tranny,) was not usto shifting at 6K rpms. (it was driven 4K mi. a year by an old lady) ive now put over 42K on in one year, and i drive like im a racecar driver. so ive had to replace the tranny, radiator, and a fiew other things, but would i chip it again? YES!
rims- the first thing anyone should do to there 129 is rims, only AMG, Brabus, or Lorenser (imo). because anything elce rouns the look. do it
Exghaust, i started out with a normal exghaust, then i moved to a exghaust from Ferrari that was a straight pipe system, i had back pressure problems and lost power over 5Krpm, so now i have a single chamber high flow exghaust system. if you want to hear the best music in the word, throw an exghaust system on an SL500
Tint, i have tint on my car, it maked it look SO much better. do it
Tined taillights, i got mine tinted to match my tint on my car. it looks WONDERFUL!! only do it if you collour is right
Tinted star and grille, i have ,trunk badge to match my taillights and my grille to match my star. only do it if you collour is right..
lowerded- i had my car lowerded a LOT! normally the car has about 4 finger height, mine has less than one in the back, and a tight one in front. looks a lot better, but you have to drive slow over bumps.
i have the 1999+ taillights on my car, makes it look a lot better imo.
i have a set to sell beacause i bought another pare to tint.
KandN air filter, do it, car likes to breath, but you need two of them if you have the 500/600
my trusted mechanic has done all of my work. exept the K&Ns
im very happy with everything ive done
i dont have picks of my black star and grill, but here are the most recent.
oh and i switched back to my clear coarners like on my avatar.
the total is about 8,300. inc. tranny. and i got new "eyelids" the things with the headlight wipers, i didnt like them.

Nice looking ride. Would you mind providing the details on what chip you used and more details on the exhaust (who makes it, where you got it, and cost).

i have a magnaflow exghaust single chamber. its very loud, and if i was not a teenager it would be too loud for me, but Flow master has a very nice muffler that gives the 500 a mean growel when you punch it, and is not too noizzy at cruzing speeds ( i had this before but it was not loud enough for me.)
ive gotten many exghausts jobs on my cars.
for the SLs first go around it was about 600,its a lot of labor becasue merceses have like a smaller pre-muffler to the muffler, its the resenator. so i had to get that taken out and straight pipping put in its place, thats why it was sorta a lot.
