SL/R129: Vibration At Speed
I had heavy vibration at speed, and couldn't be sure whether it was the wheels or (not sure what made me think of it) the softop, as both are new.
Just thought I would let you guys know that I found out what the vibration was... I put the hard top back on (it's nearly winter here in the UK again) and the vibration stopped!!! I just drove to Chester from Manchester at well over 90 and... steady as a rock... a bit firmer ride because the tyres are a much lower profile, but nothing like the washing machine effect. Thing is, how do I sort this out with the guy who fitted the soft top... I mean, do you think its because it's too loose, or fitted wrong or what? I really need to give this guy a credible reason to sort it out, and I know he will wriggle... has this happened to anyone else

the old rims may have been bent if you did change them and the shaking went away, i dont know about changing the hard top fixing it
