AC/Heater controls

I would like to change my rotary manual controls for the digital climate controls. Is it a straight swap or more is involved?
Has anyone done it?

My controls have stopped working properly, my garage have told me that the control unit is specific to the chassis number, so if you want to do it check that first... Sounds like a good idea, but unless the car is exactly the same on all models where the air con is concerned, I can't imagine that a swap like the one you are talking about would work. If it does though, I can widen my own search!

Hi, b4mmy
You can take the control device to be repaired by the electronician. Normally, that will be only the PCB wire defects, after re-soldering, it would work again.

Guys,my controls work perfectly,I just like the idea of changing to digital.
Here in Lebanon, many people have done it as used parts are cheap..
USD 100 for a digital climate control for the 129...exchange..
But the question is..will it work properly or is it a waste of time?

I'll try Morris's idea, but can you help me out with this part number... if you guys are swapping out for digital there must be a few of these knocking around there somewhere.... A129 8300485. The photo attached is similar, the part number I need has a snowflake in place of the EC.

Thanks in advance

Hi I have a 92 SL with Aircon and not climate.

I have looked around the web and apparently you can switch the standard air con dials with the climate system, the one with the big Automatic buttons, the single wheel and small lcd. Apparently the cabling is the same.

I want to idealy fit the later climate with the big lcd, (like E and CLK style) on a SL >98. I have bought one from ebay but the wiring seems totaly different to what in my car !

Does any one know if the later >98 SL climate control will fit a 92 car ?

Can any one confirm if the standard aircon dials can be swapped for the 92 climate module with the small display ?
