radio code
My battery went dead, jumped the car, now the radio says code. I can't get into the glove box to get to the manual to fix the problem. It's a 94 sl500 and I just got the car a few months ago
One solution would be to take the radio out (very easy if you have the radio removal tools, they are about 10 bucks on ebay if you don't) then call your local MB parts dept. and provide them the serial number. They can look it up on their computer right away and give you the code.
This makes me suspicous. R129's don't have traditional glove boxes. And why can't you get into one of the locking compartments? If you stole the radio, you are probably out of luck.
However, if you actually own the car, you have the VIN -- call the dealer and tell them the VIN. They can tell you over the phone what the code is.

I realised i wasn't pushing hard enough on the glove box button for it to open. I called the dealer with the vin, they gave me the code, now the radio says waiting and nothing happens till it goes back to code. The dealer tech wasn't sure what button to push after entering the code, I tried several (seek and scan) which he thought they might be. I guess i may have to take a ride over to the dealer and let them take a look at it. I've only had the car for a month, so i'm not sure how everything works on it.
Anyone know which buttom to push after entering the code?????

At the prices they charge, they should know how to do brain surgery. I recently had the climate control panel replaced in my Baby, and they didn't program it correctly. It took me four calls to the dealer just to get them to call me back. Then I had to drive over there again. Then leave my car for a day. Drives me crazy
. It's a crime. But I'm glad you got your radio fixed and that you are a proud new owner, Mike. So, post some pictures of your ride and tell us about how you got it and so forth.
