SL/R129: AC blower making noise - fix or replace?

AC blower making noise - fix or replace?
Hi all,
Yesterday my otherwise "perfect" SL600 started making funny noises out of the dash vents - sounds like the squirrel cage is rubbing on something...
Any thoughts on fixing the unit, or will I have to replace it? I replaced the blower assembly on my S500, and it was a fairly easy swap, but it came out from under the hood. I've heard that the SL blower comes out from above the passenger footwell.
Any guidance would be appreciated. (Especially if someone has access to a used unit?)

Could be just a leaf or something that may have dislodged and hitting the spinning surface..if you've done it before, do it again....Let us know!Has to come out one way or the other right?
