1994 SL500
Dash Mileage/Temp light

I have a 1994 SL500 and at night the mileage and temp. Gauge is not illuminated. Also, the Temp sensor in not working. Is this a simple fix, or just let it go?? Also has any one replaced the main wire harness the one that goes bad a lot of times on the SL’s. I think my problem might be from this. Thanks for looking!

If these are the digital mileage and tempo indicators, if you can see the mileage and outside temperature indicators during the daytime (reversed like a negative) then the bulbs behind them have gone out. If they are analog and are dark at night then the problem is most likely just the cluster bulbs in those areas are out. For either situation, sounds like bulbs need replaced. Try the binzbin dot com and search on here or the benzworld forums for how to pull the cluster out to replace the bulbs behind it. Once you have the cluster out, it is easy to tell which ones are in the areas you need. Cluster bulbs are a weak point in all MB.

Please forgive the forum cross post but you will find plenty of info and pictures or my recent bulb replacement project including IC, HVAC, AC and the infamous temperature display lamp here:
