SL/R129: NEW owner of a SL320, looking for info!

Your baby's looking good, Chad. I like the clear turn signal lights a LOT. Wheels aren't exactly for my tastes, but they look good.
I have a question for you:
Is an R129 considered a pretty exotic car in your neck of the woods? Does it get a lot of attention?
In So. Cal. they are all over the place, so we don't get the "bling" factor for our money always.

yes its a VERY rare car to see around here, when i was looking at autotrader, it seemed that cali. had tons of them out there, while around here in TN there was like 2 or 3 in the area. plus i have had my share of drag cars and street/strip cars. so i am done with the whole race thing for now, just want that stylish cruising look.

Maybe you can put a waterfall in your center console too!

More Ideas for Mods to Chad's R129
Chad, if you really want to make your R129 stand out, in addition to the TV screens in the head rests, which is a great idea on a car with no back seat, may I suggest:
1. Hot tub in the trunk. The bathers could enjoy the t.v. screens;
2. A huge graphic on each side that says something like "R129 X DUB" on each side;
3. Installing big sub-woofers on the platform behind the rear seats.
4. A custom hydralic set up that removes the hard top, spins it around a few times and puts it back on -- I don't know how you would do it, I'm not an engineer, but it could probably be done.
5. A horn/alarm system that plays "Gangster Paradise"
(Okay, I hope you can a little kidding around -- really, I think you are unique to this board as far as what you want to do to your car, and I think it is great to get a different viewpoint)

like i had said in a previous post... i have done had my share of very high perfomance cars, and i am just trying to take a break from all that. i guess some people don't understand the reasons, but around here the R129 is a rare car, and i wanted it to stand out, and it does that very much.
i have had older men, one probably in his 70's giving me props on the car, women love it, i love it. thats all that matters.
thanks for understanding

Chad,the car looks great..
From what I can see in the pics,you must have 30/25 profile tyres..
In my country ,those wheels will not last a day...
I've got to have at least 40/35 profiles here to protect the rims...
Screens in the headrests are useless on the SL unless you have money to burn...I had a Pioneer unit installed in dash with a flip screen,sub and amp in the boot ..and that was enough...
You might want to invest in some interior chrome to update the 80's look.
Gear gaiter chrome surround,chrome speedo rings,and a decent wood/leather steering with a chrome benz logo..that should do it....
