1997 SL500
Have been driving a 1998 E300 Turbo-Diesel for 10 years (Oct 97) and loved it but always wanted a red SL500 roadster. Three weeks ago, this one (1997 SL500 R129) came my way with only 45,000km (28,000 miles) ..the E300 has gone to a new home. Life is far too short and after 4 divorces...(ok ok, I am a slow learner)... well I have not wasted money on a divorce lawyer for 3 years so this is my reward for staying single!

Thank you sir. I picked it up off eBay. The quality is rather good, and it freshens up the front a bit. One downside is the lack of instructions and annoyance in installation. Had to do a bit of tweaking to have the hood release mechanism working right. From a side view, it looks pretty flush and sits well in the hood.

I agree, the hood latch issue shouldn't be an issue, but it was for me as well.

Retrospectively, I would have selected the black grill with chrome accents for my (black) car, but I still prefer to the look to the old grill - if for no other reason (along with my faux-Lorinser rims) it sets my SL apart from all the others...
