How do I Replace the Air Filters on a 99 SL500?
I bought a pair of K&N Air Filters for my 99 SL500. I don't have any scheduled maintenance coming up soon where I'd be going to my dealer, and I'd like to change them myself.
I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. Do I have to take off the whole cover? and how?
Thanks.

Air intake filters
Hi bosbaird,
Do the following: Slide/pull the two air intake tubes from the upper cover. Next, lift up on the front of the cover piece that has the Mercedes "Star" emblem. When it unsnaps slide/pull it towards the front of the vehicle. The larger cover piece is held down by four spring clips-one in each corner. They are easily seen. Lift up on each one to release the cover. The air filters are contained within the cover. You'll need a small torx(size ??) bit to remove the filter covers once you turn the cover upside down. Install in reverse order.
