Assuming the internals were upgraded, I would not be surprised.

Playing on the Autobahns in Germany is fun. I've had the SL up to 265kph on a nice easy drive home from Czech one day with little traffic before I realized it. Thought I was sitting around 220.

Played tag with a C6 Vette last summer for about 60km letting each other take turns clearing the path usually sitting around 240-250kph.

Friday I got to play with an S500, in my SLK for almost 70km. He seemed to be pressing me while I was stuck behind slow cars in the left lane. As soon as they moved over, I was quickly up to 150mph with him far behind before having to brake hard for another slow vehicle pulling into the left lane. This went on until he exited onto another bahn. He looked surprised that I pulled away so easily, I guess the fact that I debadged the car made him not realize what engine I had.

But my favorite memory of speeding in the states is one on my old Guzzi. I was playing tag with a newer thunderbird back in '90 along I5 heading north through the hills. As we came out into the Sacramento Valley, I pushed it up and started cruising easy at about 120mph. I saw a CHP Mustang coming the other direction but got no hits on the radar detector. I slowed down anyway not to draw too much attention till he was out of sight then sped back up. A few minutes later, I glanced in my mirror and all of a sudden he was right there pulling in behind me and hitting the lights. I pulled over, he said something over the PA and pulled back out as the Tbird came by and pulled him over up the road. I road up to where they were and pulled over and got off the bike. He walked over and said he would take care of me first since he pulled me over first. He was checking out the bike and told me that he was writing me up for 80mph but was curious how fast I was actually going as he had been pacing us at 80 and the Tbird was walking away from him and said I was walking away from the Tbird faster than the Tbird was walking away from him. I didn't trust him enough and told him that I couldn't see my speedo very well over my tank bag so I really didn't know how fast I was going. I really didn't mind paying that ticket for 80 when I was going 120.
