Warning Light During Test Drive

During a test drive of a 1999 SL600 with 30,000 miles, an orange warning light that looked like a shock absorber came on and stayed on for the first five minutes of the drive. The seler did not have the owner's manual, so I was unable to check what the light ment. Does it just mean that the suspension hydraulic fluid is low, or is there a problem that I should be more worried about?

SL500 2001 Formula 1 Edition;
Sounds like the traction control light. If so, either you had the traction control off; you were pushing the car really hard through turns, acceleration, etc.; the tires are badly worn; you were driving in wet conditions; or something is wrong with the traction control system.

The warning light that looks like a "shock absorber" is the first to the right of the outside temperature display. It has nothing to do with traction control. It's the ADS (Adaptive Damping System) warning light indicating an ADS malfunction.

Could this just be low fluid, or is in nessesarily a big problem?

Could be a big problem if neglected for a long period of time, I think. However, if it is a recent occurance, it may as well be low hydrolic fluid. Due to the mileage, it may be a recent problem.

As stated above, it signifies an ADS malfunction. When this light is on, the ride becomes very harsh and bumpy.
