I recently purchased a 1990 500 SL without an owner's manual and I have a few questions:

1. In the center console there are approx 6 slots which pop out when you push the button located on the top of each slot, they are very thin and I can't figure out their use; can someone please tell me what these are intended for?

2. The wood paneling covering these slots is missing; does anyone have any good tips about replacement/pricing?

The slots aren't big enough for either of those...additionally, I re-checked and there were actaully 7 slots...

Thanks!!! Is there any way to substitute/replace the tape holder with a cd holder? Additionally, is anyone familiar with replacing the sliding wood paneling which typically covers the ashtry and tape holder? Thanks for the advice!!!!

the clip on the end of the slide over may have snapped off

this would allow the sliding cover to retract into the housing of the tape holder and ciggarette lighter piece

i just live with it...
