hey
my stearing wheel is starting to age. heres the deal guys and girl.
buy a new wheel (500-600$)
OR, get mine redone in suede to match the hard-top head liner. and that would be cheaper. but idk, new or suede the old one and make it look new.
thx

How much longer do you plan on keeping the car? I say, settle with the wheel and save yourself $500-600 you plan to spend on your next car. That's 1-1.5 car payments, depending on your budget, you could save! That much for a steering wheel, on that old of a car, is just horrible finanical choice, in the long term and short term.

I really like the idea of an ultra suede wheel but be very sure to use the most durable suede you can find (yes, there are many different brands and qualities in faux suede these days). If you want to see/touch/feel a sueded wheel then find a BMW 330i performance package, it has one. The alcantara used by BMW is pretty decent quality but it still shows some wear (pilling) over time. Also, be sure to cover the wheel in a dark color suede since it's will get dirty looking if a light color. I think MB made a huge mistake on the 02 SA 500 going with a light gray leather on the wheel, Every one I look at the wheel is dirty and difficult to clean.
