One Touch Automatic Roof

Like the Goose sez, I am really confused with the Tech Talk. I cannot follow it all. I went to accounting school. So here is my take on the subject. I will DEBIT my account and CREDIT any account that has a reliable design for sale.
How is that.
As for the Forum Tax, I think it's ridiculous.

I can't follow the tech talk either. But it doesn't matter, because there is no need to. Just spend $10 and build and install the circuit (as I am going to do), or buy from a manufacturer. There seem to be at least 3 people offering them. Do a search on "automatic roof" on the Benzworld forums. And check this link that someone sent to me: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...QQcmdZViewItem

Hi accounting guys, you just get your flexible friends ready - but hopefully you wont need much credit for this little kit

I think overriding the speed sensor is WAY to dangerous!!! PLEASE do not offer this as an option - unless the circuit has an override.

Imagine a falsely triggered circuit when you're travelling at 50+....

Just thought you might like to know that when I contacted these people I received a short sweet answer. They don't ship to the US.

Another way to do this...

Hi guys, this seems a topic of much interest!
I could offer another way to do this...
Get with Micros and go digital!
I have my window dropper coming ready to build soon that some of you will of heard of. (auto drop / raise window for earlier R129s) Small metal & plastic box 2 x 1.25 x 0.5".

My design can take a number of inputs and control outputs to various programs loaded.
This would be a software only change for me I expect for the Dropper circuit, covering everything - speed input for speed detect, switch input latched to hold the switch on, high power FET drive for the outputs.
I make my circuits user-programmable at powerup, so you can set things like timing parameters and in this case say speed at which it wont start.
But holds all parameters with powerdown, only recal at poweron if you want.

(Other circuit I've running in my car is a radar detector (or anything, eg lights) autoshutoff. I power the detector off the visor, where it clips, and use the volts in the visor, but these stay on all the time, danger of flattening your battery (just did it the other day darn, so built the circuit, all going now).
This requires no extra wires, just senses the change in voltage, but does not use an absolute voltage, so temperature or battery condition will not be a problem. All easy to do with a micro in the thing. Tiny circuit about 1 inch by 0.7. )

(Trying to stop paying customers troubling me with work so I can get these all in production)

Less techy description

Sorry V12Pwr, seemed like there were a few Electronics geeks on this post, may have got carried away....

1. I am creating a general electronic control module that uses a microprocessor, not logic gates, so is easy to make one bit of hardware do a variety of things, with different programs.

2. I have one in use to drop (door open) and re-raise the window (after door close) on my 92 R129. This makes door closing a consistent process, and the door just closes with its own weight, no slamming like when the window is up.

3. I have another in use as a timeout for accessories such as radar detectors or lights. My case - a radar detector powered off the sunvisor.

4. This design could do the one-touch-roof device.

I am getting these designss tidy enough to manufacture for others to buy.

Here is a pic of the prototype enclosure and PCBs.
Took a video of the dropper in action, but not sorted cutting it up into a suitable form to post yet.

Hope this is a bit clearer....

Or you can just buy it now on eBay:

If I were manufacturing these for sale, I would offer a version for later cars that operates from the RF signal from the remote instead of the IR signal. This way you could work the top from 20 feet away with the remote in your pocket instead of having to be a few feet from a door and aiming at the IR receiver in the handle. The only drawback is that it would require running a new wire from some part of the car to wherever it is you are locating your custom control module.

Both versions are available at the same price, it all depends on your VIN.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I believe the car in your video has an RF remote, yet in the video the man walks up to the door and is pointing the remote at the handle. This is operation from the infrared signal -- not the radio frequency signal. If you do have a version that works with RF, surely you would have shot a video of that to showcase your product?

So by that logic, it must be infra red, cause RF wouldn't work that close to the car. Sorry, just being sarcastic!
As I stated before, both versions are available. It just depends on the vehicles VIN.
