Squeaks and Rattles in my new SL600
I just bought a 2002 SL600 with just 10,500 miles on it. I love the smoothness and power of the motor, but the interior is plagued with squeaks and some rattles. These are the worst with the soft top up. Is this "normal" for the car? Does conditioning the leather help a lot (to reduce squeaky seats)? Any advice will be appreciated

Nice find. As for the seats, someone may have applied a cheap slippery leather cleaner. Search the Automotive Care forum, those guys seem to know what they are talking about. I use Meguire's Gold Class leather conditioning wipes, but only on the roll bar, soft top lid and the lining above the windshield (car is top down). It does a great job on those parts and protects them from UV Exposure. However, I don't use them on the seats. The seats are in good condition and I don't wish to make them glossy. But check the Automotive Car forum, I believe the recommended product is leatherique.

I think your trouble is that the car has never been used!
Do some detailing work and break it in ... see what happens.
My 1999 has no squeaks and rattels after 51,000 miles.

Tires chirp
No squeaks or rattles in my 2002 SL500 with 42K+ miles, but I do notice my Michelin Pilot Sports tend to "chirp" on all but the smoothest roads. The sound is noticeable only when driving slowly.
