SL/R129: overrevving?? oops

overrevving?? oops
i recently put a chip in my sl and forgot that it took away the rev limiter as well
i was driving around off a stop light and making a left turn with the shifter in the b or 1st gear position, pushed it hard and forgot that i didnt have it in automatic
the revs went up to about 6700 for about 3 sec and then i noticed and dropped them back down, i let it cool for about 7 min
is there anything i should be worried about?

Hmmm, granted the strenth of the motor and the fact that it was in that rpm range for a mere few seconds, I don't think it should cause much damage. Plus, you immedietely let the motor cool for several minutes after that. Call up and ask an independent MB mechanic just to be sure. If you ask me, these cars are built well enough to handle some hard running.

it will shift right at redline (6000 rpm) if left in D, automatic mode
before the chip it would shift around 5900 rpm in D mode
i might be crazy but i think it may have cleaned up things a bit, it shifts nicer but that may jus be placebo

no, i usually manually shift. or i press the kickdown with my toe to put it into first.
and i got rid of the renntech frist gear in the E500 because it shifted like pure ****. so now i manually shift the E5 if i want to drive "german"
