Yup. Our soft top is actually two pieces.

However, you may as well replace the entire top as the newer material in the back may make your front piece looks "old".

1996 SL600 - 100% Stock
Not so fast!

I have a '96 SL600 which needed the same thing done. Not because the window was yellow, but... Of the two parts to the soft top (the top and the back) I had the back replaced. Despite the 10 year difference in ages, the match was perfect. The only time you get a hint that they are not from a matched set is when it rains. The water beads up a bit better on the new portion. I'm sure if I wanted, I could have the old part re-treated with waterproofing, but it still repells water fine, so I don't bother. Anyhow, I would suggest you go for it. The price is pretty reasonable, and the car is superb.

You have three options for getting new plastic rear windows:
1. Have new plastic sewn in. This is the least expensive and some have had it done for as little as $300.
2. Have a new rear top section installed. You can get this OEM or aftermarket and the aftermarket is just as good and a perfect match. I have an aftermarket rear section on mine and it was $800 installed. I was quoted between $800 and $1500 for this job from 4 different shops. Turns out the best shop was also the cheapest in my city.
3. Get a new top. Again you can get OE or aftermarket. I didn't check pricing on this option but you can imagine that it's considerably more then $1500 since the labor alone is huge compared to just replacing the rear section (which is a one day job).

Having investigated the same issue - someone suggested that a boat top repair shop at local marina could do this easily. They do lots of these types of repairs daily. Estimate was ~$200 for the back window. Not MB original "glass" material but does it really matter?
