94 SL 500 ECU Issue?

Hello everyone,

Lately when I drive my car at a constant speed say 50 mph on a highway the car acts as if it has hick ups. For example yesterday I took the car out on the highway, I drove basically as if I was on cruise control at a set mph and the RPM's would go up and down. It felt as if I was on the accelerator and pressing on the brakes to slow the car down. The car performs this way from 30mph and up.

When I spoke to a mechanic about it he told me it could be my ECU. Could it be my transmission?

Has anyone experience this before?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help, I'm not up to date on ECU's. Is Renntech's a plug and play system that requires tuning or is it a ecu I swap out and use?

Thanks again.

Do you have ASR??? Do you have stock wheels/tire sizes??? Sounds like an ASR problem to me...ASR is controlled by the ECU but also uses other sensors not in the ECU that could be bad/going bad.

I had problems where my ASR light would come on three or four times a day about two years ago. I reset my ecu and haven't had any problems since.

The car still rides on stock wheels/tires sizes.

I contacted Renntech and they told me they cannot reprogram my ecu's because of the age.

I was able to locate a stock ecu so I'll post my result soon.
