SL/R129: Scratch in Window Glass

Scratch in Window Glass
After driving one weekend on a lot of gravel roads ... there was a squeak when the driver side window went up and down.
I left it unattended for a while
before realizing that it was a piece of sand in the rubber gasket at the base of the window on the outside.
It actually marred the glass surface. Now I have removed the sand. No more squeak.
But I have a scratch from top to bottom of the window.
Any one ever fixed that type of thing?

2000 SL500
When I have had damage like this I report it to my insurance company and they will pay for a new MB windshield less my chosen $250 deductible. BTW, comprehensive claims have never hurt my insurance year to year costs. In other words they have not raised my rates like they would for an accident collison.
