SL/R129: 97 sl320 oil filter location

97 sl320 oil filter location
ok i dont mean to sound like a dumbass, but i cant find the damn oil filter???
is it in the rear of the car or what?
also, before i get started, is there any speciality tools required?

It behind the engine next to the firewall....where I mark it......... and yes it required a special tools to remove it....... good luck...

well after spending about another 2 hours yesterday afternoon, i figured that out, lol. but it looks just like a black plastic cap thats screwed in over the filter? i didn't see where any kind of special tool was required?

well, you need special tool to unscrewed the black plastic cap......... They sell it at the MB dealer.....good luck....

ok...
i got it all taking care of, and here is what i learned...
well first off that the oil filter is on top of the motor, and located on the back side of the block. (never would have expected that, but its an easy to get too)
second, i learned that there is NO special tool required to change the oil filter? i am not sure which motor you guys was refering too, but mines the 3.2 inline 6 motor. i went out this morning looked at the black plastic cap. unscrewed it with my hand, the filter slide out with the cap. the filter snaps into the back of the black cap. thats all that was involved, very simple.
third, damn motor takes alot of oil, went with mobil 1 syn. 10w 30. 8 quarts = about 50 bucks, not cheap.
thats about all, just figured i'd put that out there for you guys. thanks for the help!
