SL/R129: Oil Pressure Reading (1,2,3) ?

Oil Pressure Reading (1,2,3) ?
So, what do these numbers correspond with ? Obvioulsy not a 'BAR' reading since too low. Is it just a gauge to say 'You have pressure' and not really how much like the Ford Gauges ? I know they just jump into the good area if the car has a certain amount - pretty much useless...
I've heard the 1999-2002 actually have a gauge that measures in 'C' ?

actually, it is BAR, think of it like 15/30/45psi....thats why it jump to 3 so quickly with rpm's...10-15 psi at idle when the oil is warmed up is ok, light doestn't come on till 0.3 or about 5psi
