SL/R129: '97 SL600 Tire Help.
It's that time again - I need to buy a new set of tires.
I have two sets of wheels for my car and am not sure which set to stick with and mount a new set of tires.
The first set is the stock 16" and the second set is the AMG 5 Spoke 18".
I like the 18"s, but a decent set of tires is a small fortune.
I don't mind paying for a set of good tires but this cars goes thru them like you wouldn't believe!
I went thru a set of new Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position 245/40/18 Front and 275/35/18 rear in less that 3000 miles!
I don't drive it heard, never take of traction control, etc. and it still eats tires .
What tires do you reccomend for longevity, ride comfort, handling, etc.?
Thanks in advance,
Vincent
Before you waste more money on new tires check the camber/caster not only the tow.
600 are heavy on the front and the lower bushings tend to 'give' with time,if the adjusters are 'maxed',you'll need new lower control arms.
