I don't know much about the price of the SL, but in October, my dealer gave me 14K trade for my 99 SLK230 Kompressor. I didn't do any mods. It was stock execpt for the stereo. He sold it within 2 weeks for 18,500.

Has there been a downturn in your stock portfolio? That price is reasonable.

SL500 2001 Formula 1 Edition;
KBB.com says it is worth between about $13,000 and $20,000 depending on several factors.

Given that Ebay is a wide open market place, whatever our R129's sell for on ebay is a pretty good indication of their worth (given an exception from time to time for somebody who snagged a deal because of good timing, etc.)

187,000 miles and the car still looks that good.

i saw a recent one-owner 1997 SL500 for $18k w/ 87k miles in the SF area that looks pretty clean.

the only thing was that i turned on the engine and there was a very light clicking sound from the engine. i'm not mechanic, but what could cause that? i turned on the 1999 and 2001 SL's that were parked next to it and it sounded very smooth. any ideas?
