Offset and spacers

I have a set of new Mercedes Rucha rims and tyres (okay, tires) from an E class that have only delivery miles on them. They are the same size tire (225/55/16) as my stock SL ones and I was going to take the tires off the rims shortly to replace mine, but……..the more I see them stacked up next to the lawn mower the more I think the rims may look better than the “pretty” ones that are on the car now.

The question for you guys is in relation to the offset. My stock is ET 34, the E class rim is ET 42. I have read all the relevant postings, had a look at the H&R site and checked out ebay etc. Should I just plunder the tyres and sell the rims and steer clear of spacers, try to get 8mm spacers, or go for easy to get 10mm? Then there is the lugs to consider ……

Given the rim size and tyres you guys put on your SLs, no rude comments about my stock 225/55/16s please!

Pete

Lugs should be ok for the rears but you may need spacers and longer lugs to clear the larger brakes on the front of a 129.. JJ
