Shocks...

My mom bought an SL500 recently. I have a CLK430 and just dropped it w/ H&R's and am installing Bilstein shocks soon. My mom had some 18" amg wheels added, and it looks great, but it sits way too high and the shocks are shot.

So we bought a deal in some H&R springs for the R129, but she needs shocks REALLY bad. They're practically ruined. How do I tell if she has the fancy shocks(ADS or something?) or the regular ones? What are the differences?

If she does have the fancy shocks, does it need/have to be replaced with factory ones? What brand is the best for the SL500? I can't find used ones, so we'll have to buy new I suppose. Thanks!

Adaptive Damping Suspension System (ADS)

An Adaptive Damping System came standard on the SL600 and optional on the SL500 and automatically varies shock-absorber firmness to suit changing road conditions. I have never seen ADS on a SL500. She probably does not have ADS. It was a very expensive option.

Here is a site for Bilstein's.

I do not know what you mean by hydromat.
I believe your car is a 129.063. If you go to this site it will give you the OE p/n for replacement parts. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=030&SGN=01

If you don't have ADS then you don't have a hydraulic system. You have a conventional system. Therefore NO hydromat. http://www.eshocks.com/bil_Ind.asp?VC=8Q49&SubChar=Q
