SL/R129: Transmission Electrical Connector???

2003 E500 Sport, 1999 ML430 & Regal 402 Commodore
Transmission Electrical Connector???
Anybody change a trans electrical connector on a 99 SL500 5spd Auto? If so, are there any tips you'd like to share with me. My trans is leaking from the connector & I just purchased the $6.00 part. My main questions are:

1 Do I need to drop the pan?
2 Does the plug press back in?

Any tips would be greatly appreicated

This is a common problem. I paid an INDY $150.00 for parts and labor. My 2000 SL500 had 25K miles on it. I did not watch the repair but I don't believe he dropped the pan.
Please document and post with pictures of how you did this R&R.
