Not seen you since Tia Juana`s meet in January.
I worry about my bolsters too. Its a big guy thing we both share.......

Plates:
I have both cars no plates up front. Both are in the trunk.
The CL500 I can clip it on. Not good for speed. But will pass the bozo test.
Things are good and fast. Good to hear from you. I'm usually on the 129 or 211 forums.

Re: bolsters...My upolstery guy put in a thin, rounded edge steel plate to help with that problem on my 380. The leather may show a rub but the thing will never sag!

The clip idea is interesting, any pics or description as to how it works?

Front plates

Glad to hear some of you are getting away with not running the front plates! The car looks MUCH cleaner and sleeker without them! BUT... Here in the greater L.A. area...its a cop magnet...and as stated previously, the meter-maids nail you for it too! It's all about the cameras they've intalled at certain stop lights...you know, the ones where if you run the light, they get the picture of the car, you and the front license plate and issue a big ticket by mail..no cop involved! Nothing but profit for the cities! But....no plate, no ticket! So they are cracking down on front plate "violations". It doesn't seem fair...but its the law...and its getting worse! More and more of these cameras are being installed at intersections every day...and some cities seem more aggressive than others at the moment about these tickets for no front plates.
So...good luck, however you choose to handle it!

In its defense, I'll say that unlike many newer cars, the R129 actually looks decent (i.e. not "ruined") with the plate on. Not as pristine as without, but I suppose there are shorter straws to draw when compromising...

isn't it sad that Bronson's exceptional catalogue of work is disappearing down the memory hole? so many great ones on that list...

Hi Gang,

I have not had a front plate for years, and thankfully, no tickets/interests fron SF Bay Area PD's. I do have the plate holder on because the two holes in the bumper drive me nuts Any idea how I can plug these holes myself? Thanks...

CA - NO Front bumper holes for lic. plate

Don;
Bayarea was save for me for several years - w/o front lic. plate.... incl. a ticket-stop...

However, if I had to mount a lic. plate - I had prepared a bracket to screw it into the tow-hook hole in the bumper (removable so to speak); never had to actually do this; one can always consider moving to AZ = no front lic. plate required.....

Never gotten a ticket

I've never gotten a ticket, and been driving around the Laguna Beach/San Clemente/Irvine area for several years now (these are the worst areas for getting tickets according to everyone I know). Every car I've had, including a bright blue camaro has never had a front liscence plate.
FACTS:
I don't have a front liscence plate (never have, never will - I hate them)
I'm 20 Years old (with somewhat long hair)
According to my friends, I look like a stoner - although I'm far from it
And I do speed a little (hard not to do in a 5.0 Benz)

I'VE NEVER GOTTEN A TICKET? How can this be? Anyways, never gotten busted for no front liscence plate in the 5 years that I've driven around here without one. If I were you, I'd leave it off.

P.S. - Artist SL, I love that graphic, I've been inspired to make one of my own!
