R 129 MB 500SL

R129 Rear Silencer

Hi guys, something is rattling inside my rear silencer box, so it obviously needs replacing. This is an AMG item fitted to a sl 500, and looks very cool. However, I suspect replacing it will cost me more than I payed for the car lol. There must be some aftermarket, cool looking alternatives. Not interested in it sounding like a rally car, a throaty rumble will do. Anyone got any ideas, or experience of aftermarket units? Cheers in advance, Rob.

I remember my mechanic doing something similar on the middle silencer box of a c class. the car just sounded a little more throaty afterwards. but don't take my word for it, ask a mechanic first or an exhaust specialist, and if all else fails just buy a new one.
