sl500 soft top problems

So i am having trouble taking the soft top up. Alot of the hydrolic sp fluid was leaking and i assume that the mechanism is not working but i hear it go but it just might not attach to the top to let it release. Iwill give my number to some one who will truly help me out hear.
-Thanks Ron

I'm not an SL guy, but it seems like you need to fix the mechanism that is leaking fluid. Did you check the link I posted above for other people who have talked about this?

You'll probably get more help if you post more about what research you've done, things you've ruled out or suspect, specific questions you have, etc. But the fluid leak seems like an obvious place to start.

Can you fix the mechanism that is leaking? Are you going to try to fix yourself or take it in to a shop?

It sounds like one or more of your hydraulic cylinders is leaking. The fronts usually go first. The fluid reservior is under the spare tire beneath a plastic cover. Before you go any further I would make sure it is topped off with the approved MB hydraulic fluid. If you want to save some money you can fix the leaks yourself. You can have Dennis Ficken rebuild your cylinders for a fraction of the cost of purchasing new units from the dealer. Just let me know if you need or want any additional information.
