Starting problem 1991 Mercedes 300SL

The battery is strong & good the starter is work fine. The engine turns strong when turning on the switch. The only problem that I can see, is that the some-time the warrning light indicators on the lower dashboard do not come on when turning the switch before the starter turning and while the starter turn the engine. But after while turning the switch back & fort the indicator lights comes on and then the car starts.

I would appriciate any help as what a problem could be and how I could verify it

Best Regards

Thank you Mark for your reply
My problem is not the indicator lights. The problem I want to fix is that the car does not start right away and I have too keep cranking the car back & forth many times before my car starts after many tries.

Thank you

I had a jaguar with a bad ignition key switch, I just had a local stereo shop rig up a toggle switch for ignition and pushbutton start switch (like the new cars and race cars have) For $60 problem solved

You may have a bad ignition switch, and that would prevent the car from starting. When you turn the key ON and the warning lights are out, try the windows. If they operate, the cluster has a problem; if the windows don't work, then the ignition switch is probably bad.

If the engine turns over, you lack spark or fuel pressure.
Lots of possibilities, likely will take a bit of detective work.
