My Father recently bought a 1998 SL500. The CD magazine was missing from the changer. I did a search and saw that the Apine magazine works in it.
Is there a specific model Alpine I should get him? Also does anyone have the original Mercedes magazine part#? I read that they changed the magazine in 1999.

I had a 1998 E Class which I had an after market Alpine CD changer installed in the trunk. The Alpine magiznes work fine in my late 1999 SL 500 along with the original Mercedes magiznes. The Mercedes magizne has a part number "A002 820 62 89" and is all black. The ones I used in the Alpine changer are clear with one side lavender purple. Two of them have a "748D" stamped on them and the other has a "737D" stamped on it. These were not the magiznes that came with the Alpine, but rather after market ones purchased from the dealer that installed the Alpine -- the original Alpine magizne stayed in the 98 E Class when I sold it. I had to buy a replacement, and it was only like $30 from the dealer. I'd just buy one there, by the time you pay shipping and handling charges, it will probably be more to get it online.
