1997 Sl320 (engine M104.991) - Turbocharger/Supercharger Kit

I know that Mosselman had a turbo kit for this engine some time ago, and I have on a waiting list with them, awaiting news of a new future kit.

Are there any turbo developments planned elsewhere for this in-line six?

Are there any supercharger kits for the future?

All current Mercedes kits are for V6 or V8 engines.

Thanks,

Geo.

There is a guy in Stockholm who fabricates some of the most beautiful turbo kits I have seen for the M103 motors, and I believe he was working on one for the M104. Here is a translated link to his website:

Another route would be having a custom setup fabricated by a trusted shop. Either a turbo or centrifugal supercharger will work great with the M104...assuming they shop knows exactly what they are doing.

Frankly though, if you love the R129 and just want more power, why not upgrade to either a 500 or a 600? Cheaper, faster transaction process, and more reliable.

Many thanks for link; I'll follow up on this......

Owned my SL320 for over seven years, love the car, know its full dealer serviced history, has a wonderful in-line reliable six, low mileage, great fuel consumption, cannot be bothered with hassle of trading, nor trade-in price being offered, and just want a little more power.

1990 300ce supercharged and intercooled
Hello, I have built a supercharged m104 for my w124 coupe. I have recently been starting to clean up the design for asthetics. Performance is at 300rwhp.
It is intercooled and on stock internals. Lower boost and power in the 320 flywheel horsepower range is pretty easy. I am also building my intake with an air/water intercooler as part of it. Would work well with a turbo system.
I am planning on lowering compression with either a copper headgasket or custom pistons to go for 500 to 600 horsepower range. This is with standalone fuel injection on my car. I thing pumpish has done a great deal of good in establishing what potential power is.

Glad to be of help. If you just want a bit more power and nothing extreme, there are some simple bolt-on's that could pick up a few ponies, improve your throttle response, and save you the potential hassle of hunting for a forced induction setup for this car.

Speed Tuning USA:

Gruppe M Intake:

(Not sure about the site; use PayPal if you can!)

Sprint Booster:
http://www.bmw-mania.com/web/Item/spr1012/invDetail.cfm

(Note: It says that the product is for 2000+ Mercedes Benz's. I would call them to verify if they have an application for the R129.)

Just a disclaimer, I have not purchased from these sites before, and am just listing links to more details regarding each product. Use caution and PayPal with each consideration.

Additionally, you can swap out the bulky OEM unit for a performance muffler to give you that extra bit of sound. All in all, these more conservative upgrades would be a better bet if you are not looking for something extreme and costly.
