6 cylinder R129 history ?'s

Can someone point me to a link which has good information on the R129 6 cylinder's?
I have decided that my next convertible will be an R129. I have always been in love with the bodystyle, and can finally rationalize putting one in the garage for an occasional weekend jaunt. Because of where I live, I don't need the power of the V8, and cannot even dream of affording the V12 model.
It seems that over the 129 production years, there were a few 6 cylinder models available in the united states. What were the years of production of each of these? Were any more reliable than others? Did any have major problems/issues/recalls? And what body changes or option package changes were available over their spans? And lastly, was their ever a factory M-B sport package offered on any of them?

Thanks. I tried using search features, and googling for info, but it seems to be rather thin and far between out there. And this site does not seem to have a lot of history of R129 discussion, though you guys seem to be one of the more adamant owners' groups. I appreciate it.
