battery location

Hi Guys,

Today my check engine light came on and I want to disconnect my battery to see if it will shut off. Where is the batery located on this car? I've looked in the engine and the trunk and can't find it. Yes I am an idiot but help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you're in need of an owners manual for your model year to help with this kind of stuff, you can download an electronic copy free here..... http://www.4shared.com/dir/6252722/8...2/sharing.html

The battery is in the trunk behind the panel on the right side. Look under the right edge of the trunk perimeter for a black knob; turn it til the panel releases, pull to your left gently; you'll see the battery.

Instead of disconnecting the battery, consider that if you have a '96 MY or newer, you can get the codes read for free at any Autozone. Better to know what made the light come on than simply trying to erase it. Chances are if you erase, it will come back on in a few days/hours. Get the code and post it here...many can help you diagnose the real problem.

Correct answer, you always need to get to the bottom of a CEL through DTC's. Sometimes it is best to go to an Indy and have him connector to your 38 pin connect under your engine hood to the Mercedes STAR Diagnostic System for about $50-$100. AutoZone reads through the OBD II connection under the drivers side dash, above the right leg. Use a flash light to find the door to open.
