Ouch . . .

One of the rear hold-down brackets (the pieces that the top mechanism pulls down on to hold the top on) on my hardtop got bent over while the top was in storage last year. I "bent" it back and put the top on last fall. But the bending must have caused stress fatigue so this year the bracket broke off when pulled by the top mechanism. I called the dealer and they want $225 for a new one!!! This bracket is only two inches long and less than two ounces of cheap cold rolled steal. On a Toyota it would be a $10 part. $25 for the Lexus version. But $225? Even for MB that's outrageous.

I had mine welded for 20 bucks and it's good as new. But still, ouch . . .
