Hello, just thought I would let you guys know that I am doing some modifications to my 91 300SL. I am installing a KKK turbocharger from a 1990 350SD. Further, I am having an aluminum 5mm thick spacer machined exactly as the cylinder head gasket with all the water cooling ports, oil ports, etc. The spacer, 2 cylinder head gaskets, and a slightly longer double roller timing chain will increase the size of the combustion chamber (to pack more fuel/air into the cylinders via the turbocharger). I am also adding a custom made gas refrigerant to air intercooler (2 140 chassis evaporators) that will tap into the existing refrigerant system on the car. Thats not all. I am installing 2 of the HVAC fans from the 211 chassis to force feed air to the turbocharger, one on each side hidden behind the bumper just behind the fog lamps. I've already installed a 500SL rear subframe/axle assembly and 19" AMG wheels. I hope to break some top speed records for the 300SL. You'll be hearing from me, or seeing me on the 10'oclock news. Trust me. I added a picture but this represents only mockup to check visual appeal and functionality of different configurations of the intake and turbocharger, and intercooler.
