SL/R129: The ,another new guy post
I recently purchased a 95 SL320 in great shape and wanted to introduce myself to the forum.
The previous owner furnished me with all the work receipts on the SL from the day she was born
through the present day.One thing I did check in particular after reading the forums was,the wiring harness has been replaced(thanks for the tip).I also spoke to the mechanic that's done all the work on the car(he called it a cream puff). The owner also provided the hoist for the hard top and a car cover.
Forgot to mention, the OD only has 84k

Tomorrow the 320 gets the first of many upgrades, new wheels and tires.
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and post a picture. This was taken the day after I picked her up.

You'll notice the gap between tires and body,
is different on each side. This is due to her sitting on an uneven sloping curb
Of course she needs a bath, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow,so it will have to wait.
Next step,performance upgrades.
I like the look of those wheels! Very Cool.
As for beefing up the performance you may want to consider getting to know her a little better before you decide to dump a ton of $$$ into her. SLCL has a good point in that you may find yourself beating a dead horse! SL's are built for the road and not the track...Their are a smooth shifting, solid riding roadster touring car. Great 0 to 60 cars and great up to 80, 90 and some even 155 mph. But launching will hurt your transmission, suspension, and rob her of engine life. These cars are not meant to roadtrach or 1/4 mile. To heavy, soft suspensions, low torque, and all those electronic safety features. Take it from a track guy if you want to go really fast in a car designed to do so get a Porsche.
BTW modifying an SL is not for the lighthearted...You must first get a premium membership to the "MORE MONEY THAN BRAINS CLUB) Enjoy your new car!!! They are a blast

The performance upgrades I'll be doing are fairly mild ones.I'm not unhappy with her the way she is.What I had in mind(or lack of ),is an exhaust and intake upgrade ,plus a few other odds and ends.
In my 20's and early 30's,I owned and drove a Porsche,Jag,and Lotus.I've no desire to revisit those days.It took too much work to reach "old fart" status, and I like my comfort level these days

My mind still thinks I'm 18.My body on the other hand, knows the truth.
The title"old fart" was given to me by my daughter.Luckily for me ,the grand kids are still learning to speak or I'm sure they'd be calling me that too

Thanks for the posts guys.I must admit,I'm pretty happy with the SL the way she looks and drives ATM.Other then a slight exhaust mod(very slight),I'm going to leave her alone.
Had a good friend recommend a detailer last week, that I've become friends with.Guy does amazing work. Here is a photo taken 2 days after the detail at this week's Sunday gathering .
