Service a and b on 1992 500sl
I am considering buying a 1992 500sl.What does the a and b service entail and what do these cost .I want to have these done if the owner hasn't had these performed. The car has 78,000miles and I need to know what I will have to do to get it up to date. Thanks again I lobve this forum

A and B services are MB packaged service items, i.e., oil changes, filters, wiper blade, fluids check/replenish, etc. The A service should run a couple hundred, and B service about twice that. All MB Dealers have literature on this that you can pick up and read.
Keep in mind that these services packages were designed under MB FSS (Flexible Service System) which was introduced after your model year, I believe, and they are only available through the Dealer.
Your money may be better spent taking the car for a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified local MB independent shop. As long as they have the Star Diagnostic System, your possible purchase can be checked out using the Diagnostic System. This plus other site inspections will run about $150+/-, and will be the best prepurchase investment you can make. Anything discovered by a qualified tech' inspection can be used to either disqualify the car for purchase, or provide you with a list of needed repairs that you can use in negotiating the purchase price.
