SL/R129: Battery tender use

every garage should have one (slight embellishment). cat's meow. I drive my
truck most of the time, relegating the Benz to garage queen status. having the
maintenance charge placed on the car helps it from discharging. fortunately, i have remote POSITIVE post connection under the hood, even though the battery is beneath the rear seat.
the battery tender is also great for my scooter and motorcycles....and back up batteries for ham radio gear.

They are a must for cars that spend a lot of time relaxing in the garage. Be sure you get one the does a true "float charge". I got mine for under 10 bucks. Since the battery on my R129 is rather inconveniently located in the trunk behind a panel, I connected a 2 pin female Molex connector to the battery through a 5 amp fuse. The connector just pokes out under the rear tail light assembly inside the trunk so you can't really see it unless you knwo it's there. I then fitted the corresponding male Molex connector to the float charger. When it's time to leave it for a while, I just plug in the connectors which takes less than 30 seconds.
