ESP Problem following new tyres and wheel alignment

I've had my 1998 SL500 (one of the first M113 engined ones) for a couple of months now with no problems.

Last week I had new rear tyres fitted, and the front wheel alignment checked and adjusted at the same time. Both old and new tyres were standard size 245/45 17 Continental Sportcontacts and the fronts are the same size. Since the new tyres have been fitted, the ESP has been activating very strongly (you can really feel the braking effect) on right hand bends (eg going round a roundabout) even at very low speeds (25-35mph). Left hand bends it seems to be fine. I had no problems like this before the tyres were done.

The ESP warning light is not permanently illuminated, so it doesnt seem to be a general ESP fault.

I've got the car booked into my local specialist on friday, but would be grateful if anyone has any clues to what the problem might be from these symptoms.

What was or is the answer to your problem?

It turned out to be the rear wheel alignment. I had it rechecked and it was very wrong! Once the rear wheels were properly aligned, it seems to be ok.
